ALISO VIEJO – The Diocese of Orange confirmed that the music director at Corpus Christi Catholic-Christian Church in Aliso Viejo has been put on administrative leave pending an investigation into whether he had engaged in inappropriate conduct.

Jonathan Kim was also involved with the music programs at Sts. Simon and Jude Parish in Huntington Beach and Holy Family Cathedral in Orange, said Ryan Lilyengren, diocesan spokesman. In all three parishes, Lilyengren said, a parish bulletin announcement was made about the investigation.

Kim was replaced at Corpus Christi by Paul Nguyen, who has accepted the position of interim music director, the Oct. 3-4 bulletin at the parish said.

Lilyengren said officials received a complaint of alleged misconduct on the part of Kim on Sept. 25.

Per Diocesan policy Kim was immediately placed on administrative leave and a report was filed with the Orange County Sheriff's Department, Lilyengren said in a statement today.

Jim Amormino, spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff's Department, said they have received the complaint.

"It is somewhat sensitive and ongoing," Amormino said.

No other details were disclosed as it would affect the integrity of the investigation, Amormino added.

Kim has not responded to efforts to reach him.

In February, meanwhile, Albert Lee Schildknecht of Laguna Niguel, a former music director at St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Laguna Niguel, was sentenced to five years probation in a 14-year-old sexual abuse case.

Schildknecht had also worked at Corpus Christi Catholic in Aliso Viejo.
