And so it should be for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bridgeport, Conn., which yesterday lost its final effort to block release of 12,000 pages of documents from 23 lawsuits filed against six priests accused of the sexual abuse of minors. The U.S. Supreme Court’s refusal to take the case leaves the diocese no other option but to come clean. If the paperwork is anything like what finally became public in Massachusetts, this will be both heart-wrenching and stomach churning. But there are no happy endings here. There is only making sure this never happens again. Full disclosure makes that more likely.
