	Catholic Bishop Facing Child Porn Charges By Josh Pringle CFRA October 1, 2009 http://www.cfra.com/?cat=1&nid=68305 A former Nova Scotia-based Bishop is facing charges of possession and importing child pornography. Just days after he resigned from his post with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Antigonish, Ottawa Police announced 69-year-old Bishop Raymond Lahey has been charged. Police say a man was attempting to re-enter Canada at the Ottawa International Airport on September 15th when he was referred to secondary examination. Police say the Canada Border Services Agency found images on his laptop computer that “were of concern.” A media release states that “the forensic examination of the computer and media later revealed Child Pornography.” A warrant has been issued for his arrest. On Saturday, the Archbishop of Halifax said Pope Benedict had accepted Lahey’s resignation for “personal reasons.” In August, the bishop announced a $15 million class action settlement involving sexual abuse in the Antigonish diocese that dated back to the 1950s. Lahey was not implicated in the case.
