Kennedy obituary: The obituary of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.) that appeared in Wednesday's Section A incorrectly reported that his oldest brother, Joseph P. Kennedy Jr., died when his airplane was shot down during World War II. The plane Joseph Kennedy was piloting over Europe was filled with explosives, which detonated before Kennedy and another crew member could bail out by parachute. The cause of the explosion was never conclusively determined. Additionally, the obituary said Edward Kennedy testified in the spring of 1991 at the trial of his nephew William Kennedy Smith, who was accused of rape. Kennedy took the stand in December 1991. Also, the article said Kennedy gave the eulogy at his brother Robert's funeral in Washington; it was in New York City.

Clergy abuse cases: A brief article in Monday's Section A about a group seeking information on possible victims of sex crimes at the former parish of defrocked priest Michael Stephen Baker failed to include the Archdiocese of Los Angeles' response to allegations by the Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests that Catholic officials weren't doing enough to find victims of clergy abuse. Attorney J. Michael Hennigan said: "The archdiocese aggressively investigates every allegation or suspected incident, and in those cases looks for other victims. If SNAP has other information, they should deliver it to us and we will pursue it as we have done in the past."

Operation Rescue: An article in Wednesday's Section A about a trademark battle over the name Operation Rescue attributed to Randall Terry a statement that the group is a C corporation in Kansas, meaning it must audit its books like a nonprofit and with the same accountability. The statement was made by Troy Newman.

Opus Dei film: A Quick Takes item in Tuesday's Calendar said that a film biography of Opus Dei founder Josemaria Escriva de Balaguer, now shooting in Argentina, was being financed by the Catholic organization. The film's investors include Opus Dei members, but the organization itself is not funding the film, according to Opus Dei spokesman Brian Finnerty. The article also said the Roman Catholic Church dismissed the allegation that Escriva spoke positively of Adolf Hitler. It should have specified the source of the allegation -- former Opus Dei member Father Vladimir Feltzman -- and also noted Escriva's repeated condemnations of Nazi ideology.

Movie titles involving 9: An article in Saturday's Calendar about the spate of films with the number 9 in the title said that the title of Federico Fellini's 1963 classic "8 1/2 " reflected the number of films that the movie's main character, Guido Anselmi, has directed. The title denotes the number of movies that Fellini himself had directed at that point in his career.
