Catholics Must Donate to Abuse Settlement Canada.com August 14, 2009 http://www.canada.com/Catholics+must+donate+abuse+settlement/1892931/story.html Some Roman Catholic parishes in Nova Scotia are being told to contribute to a historic settlement for survivors of sexual abuse. Parish councils within the Diocese of Antigonish were told they must contribute to the $15-million settlement, but contributions will be based on what each can afford. The settlement was announced Aug. 7, about a year after a class-action suit was filed by a Sydney man seeking compensation for himself and others who were sexually abused by priests in the northeastern Nova Scotia diocese from 1950 to the present. |
