A Sydney priest will face court today, charged with child grooming offences.
Over the last month, detectives pretending to be a 13-year-old girl on an internet chat site have been talking to the 54-year-old from Liverpool.
Police say he was sexually explicit during the correspondence, and arranged to meet the girl for the purpose of sexual activity.
Just after midday yesterday, police from the Sex Crimes Squad arrested him in a Parramatta car park.
They also raided his presbytery, taking laptops, photos, a mobile phone and documents.
The priest has been charged with using the internet to groom a person under 16 years of age.
He will face Parramatta Local Court today.
