The support group wants more accountability for child abusers

They want to put a stop to abuse.

Members of SNAP, a support group for those suffering from clergy abuse, are calling on the catholic diocese bishop to step up.

Elaine Thomson wants protection for child sexual abuse victims. "Somebody needs to step up and be held accountable," she said. She spent the morning asking parishioners of Rosary Cathedral to speak out against abuse.

According to snap, Bishop Blair is currently working with the Vatican to oversee an investigation on a group that represents a majority of American nuns. We're told the study focuses on principals and doesn't look at the possibility of sexual abuse.

"We think it's far more important to ask about sexual victim policies than if the nuns are wearing their veils properly," said Thomson.

SNAP members claim abuse by nuns is an issue that needs to be addressed and want someone to take a closer look.

"Investigate if nuns have abused children and how prevalent it is in each of these religious communities," said SNAP founder and President Barbara Blaine.

While many of the advocates are part of the Catholic Church, they are looking to turn a new leaf.

We tried to contact the catholic diocese but they were not available for comment.
