Defense-Prosecution React to Alamo Verdict By Mario Boone ArkLaTex July 24, 2009 http://arklatexhomepage.com/content/fulltext/?cid=69272 Alamo Defense attorney Don Erving says they will file a motion for a new trial within one week for newly convicted minister Tony Alamo. Erving said he was "disappointed and dejected" at the jury's guilty verdict. The prosecution calls it "vindication" for all of the victims in this case. Alamo showed little emotion as each count was read aloud by U. S. District Judge Harry Barnes, however, he briefly hung his head low. His supporters in the court gallery sighed in shock and disbelief. Some even cried for their convicted leader. On the outside, Alamo detractors yelled in excitement. Some held signs reading "bye bye Bernie as jurors were escorted away from the courthouse under guard of U. S. Marhals. Alamo will be sentenced in about two months pending a pre-sentence investigation. Comment on this news story |
