NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Rape, abuse and betrayal are all part of a vicious cycle alleged by former members of a Mid-State church. Details of the allegations were initially revealed in a NewsChannel 5 investigation.

The truth was all that victim Jennifer Meier-Beita ever wanted.

Beita was one of several whistle blowers that spoke with NewsChannel 5 investigates late last year regarding allegations of sexual abuse at the Christian Gospel Temple in White House.

"If anything they could at least acknowledge that they were lying," said Beita. "Even though this was the hardest 3 years of my life - I wouldn't do it any differently."

Some of those women, former members of the Christian Gospel Temple in White House, are finally finding closure.

"When victims come forward it's unfortunate that people in leadership attack them to try to discredit them," said Beita.

The entire congregation moved from California to the Mid-State back in 1993. According to a lawsuit filed by the women the church remains a cult and has a remarkable degree of control over members.

Beita later dropped her suit due to the statue of limitations. However Beita has filed a defamation of character lawsuit against the church. She said lies from within the church have ruined her good name.

"We've been called liars from the members of the church. They've tried to re-write our entire history growing up," said Beita.

However vindication has come in the form of a court settlement. One of the alleged victims, Lynette Fay, settled out of court. Details from the case have been posted on a website by Beita.

"The settlement comes and shows that we were in fact telling the truth," said Beita.

NewsChannel5 was able to reach the current pastor of the church Steve Farmer by phone. He would not comment on the case settled out of court and still denied any wrong doing by the church or its members.
