Several groups are asking Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan to do what she can to keep Father Daniel McCormack behind bars.

In 2007, he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting five boys. A judge sentenced McCormack to five years in prison.

But with credit for good behavior he could be released next month.

Several groups are asking Ill. AGLisa Madigan to do what she can to keep Fr. Daniel McCormack behind bars.

Today, members of several groups including the survivors network of those abused by priests and coalition of concerned Catholics delivered a letter to Madigan's office. They want her to have McCormack declared a 'sexually violent person' so he can remain in custody.

"We're concerned because he seems to have such an addiction to abusing children that he is actually out of control," said Snap President Barbara Blaine.

Those who oppose McCormack's release are asking Francis Cardinal George to join their efforts. We were unable to reach anyone from Madigan's office or the Archdiocese for comment.
