Convicted Child Molester Denied Bond By Steve Dixon My Fox Atlanta July 10, 2009 http://www.myfoxatlanta.com/dpp/news/Georgia_Child_Molester_Denied_Bond_071009 ATLANTA - A convicted child molester -- caught after seven years on the run -- was denied bond in Douglas County Friday. Investigators said 53-year-old Larry Whitley assumed a new identity in Knoxville, Tennessee where he was working as a youth pastor. Authorities said Whitley had been living in Knoxville under the alias of Robert Moon. Whitley fled from Douglasville, Georgia to avoid prosecution for probation violation, sex offense against a child and child molestation. Knox County Detective Jim Albanese and a Douglas County Deputy on the U.S. Marshalls Task Force out of Georgia found Whitley at the Wal-Mart on Walbrook where he has been working, said authorities. As Whitley tried to run from the officers, he fell into a clothes rack and sustained some facial injuries. Whitley was taken into custody and charged with Fugitive from Justice. He is being held without bond at the Knox County Detention Facility until Georgia authorities have him extradited back to Douglas County. Knoxville police are looking into whether Whitley had additional victims in Tennessee. |
