	Former Priest Charged with Assault The Australian July 7, 2009 http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,25747523-12377,00.html A FORMER Catholic priest has been charged with multiple counts of indecently assaulting a girl in Sydney during the 1970s and '80s, police say. The assaults, allegedly against the same victim aged 12 at the time of the first offence, occurred at St Ives on Sydney's north shore. "Detectives will allege the man indecently assaulted the female on six occasions between 1975 and 1980 whilst at her home," police said in a statement. The 77-year-old, from Templestowe in suburban Melbourne, attended a Sydney police station on Tuesday and was charged with six counts of assaulting a female and committing an act of indecency. He has been granted bail to face Hornsby Local Court on July 21.
