Former Delaware Priest Faces 15th Abuse Lawsuit By Renee K. Gadoua The Post-Standard June 24, 2009 http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2009/06/former_delaware_priest_faces_1.html A 15th lawsuit has been filed in Delaware against a former Catholic priest, Francis G. DeLuca, who was sentenced to 60 days in jail after pleading guilty to sexually abusing a boy in Syracuse in 2006. The latest case was filed June 16 by two firms in Wilmington, Del. Delaware lawmakers passed a law in 2007 eliminating the statute of limitations in cases of child sex abuse and opened a two-year window allowing cases previously barred by the statute of limitations to be tried. DeLuca, 79, was ordained in 1958 in Delaware, where he ministered for 35 years. He moved to Syracuse in 1993 after he was dismissed from public ministry in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Wilmington, Del., because he was accused of sexually abusing a minor in the 1960s. |
