	Victims Group Opens Mid-Missouri Branch Columbia Daily Tribune June 8, 2009 http://www.columbiatribune.com/news/2009/jun/08/victims-group-opens-mid-missouri-branch/ A national support group for victims of sexual abuse by authority figures will have the first meeting of its Mid-Missouri chapter tomorrow night. The Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests chapter will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Wakonda Center, 2100 E. Broadway, Suite 315. Abuse victims and their family members are invited to attend. "We're a confidential self-help group working to heal the wounded and protect the vulnerable," Amy Surdin of Columbia, who is SNAP's Mid-Missouri outreach coordinator, said in a news release. "Despite the word 'priest' in our title, we welcome anyone who was hurt in any institutional setting." SNAP was formed in 1989 in Chicago and has 9,000 members across the United States.
