	Man Charged with Obstruction of Justice in Child Sexual Exploitation Case City of Ashville June 8, 2009 http://www.ashevillenc.gov/departments/police/default.aspx?id=10428 ASHEVILLE - Asheville police have charged John Warren Schneider, birth date 7/30/1952, of Lakeshore Drive, with Felony Obstruction of Justice in connection with the arrest last month of Paul Lawrence Berrell on multiple counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. Mr. Berrell, birth date 3/12/1980, of North Ridge Drive, is being held at the Buncombe County Detention Center under a $1.5 million bond for offenses that now also include Statutory Rape and Indecent Liberties with a Child. Detectives today charged Mr. Schneider with "feloniously [obstructing] the criminal investigation into the illegal activities of Paul Berrell on May 18, 2009. John Schneider entered Paul Berrell's apartment and deleted a computer file containing hundreds of pornographic images of children. This act was done in secret and with malice." Mr. Schneider was ordained as a Catholic Priest in 1983. He has held his current position at St. Eugene's Catholic Church since 2005. His bond was set at $10,000 unsecured.
