MEMPHIS, Tenn. - "I want to know where they're living; I want to know if they're next door to my grandchildren, I want to know if they're next door to my friends."

Sexual abuse victim and head of the Memphis Survivors Network for those Abused by Priests, David Brown, says the Catholic Church is hiding information that could put Memphis children at risk.

"Problem is this we've got 10, 15, 17, 25, 30 we don't know how many priests we've really got on our hands to have credible allegations against them, this diocese knows that ," says Brown.

Recently, the catholic church settled a civil sex abuse case against Father Juan Carlos Duran for some two million dollars, in that suit a protective order was placed on the records recounting the abuse allegations and names of priests involved. The church says they believe that order should stay in place.

"The difficulty in that is sometimes the names being revealed are not names of credible allegations," says Father Geany.

Lawyers for the Commercial Appeal and Daily News argued to Circuit Court Judge Charles McPherson the order is unconstitutional.

"We believe this order is overly restrictive and prohibits public access to a portion of the record which the public should be allowed to see," says Rick Hollow, representing the CA.

But attorneys for the diocese say victims involved have full access to information they need and the church says they are handling it internally.

"There is absolutely no way anybody in the Diocese of Memphis who has been accused credibly of allegations and has been found guilty of allegations would ever be assigned again," says Father Geany.

Still, not good enough for victims.

"Where are these priests today, are they in active ministry is the diocese supporting them, but more importantly what are they doing for a living," says Brown.
