Williamsport, Lycoming County-

A former gym teacher is in hot water over allegations he had illegal sexual contact with a young boy.

Investigators say the sexual abuse happened over a five year period between 2003 and 2008.

Theyre doing everything possible to make sure it never happens again.

34-year-old James Jamison faces 26 counts of child sexual abuse and related charges.

Prosecutors say the crimes happened while Jamison worked as a gym teacher at St. Boniface Elementary School in Williamsport.

Sister Marlene Weitzel noted, The news is very upsetting. Its hard for us. Its a sad day for the academy.

Arrest papers mention only one victim, but note the investigation is ongoing.

Detectives say the abuse began when the boy was six, and occurred repeatedly, possibly as many as 20 times, in the school gym, library, and rest room.

Jamison worked at St. Boniface for about a decade.

Lycoming County District Attorney Eric Linhardt said, During that time, he had contact with hundreds of students. It is possible that there are more victims. We hope that is not the case.

Prosecutors say Jamison also threatened to cut the boy with a knife if he told anyone what was happening.

Now the D.A.s office is cautioning parents to report any signs of suspected abuse.

Linhardt explained, Be patient, calm, and supportive. Listen without criticism, anger, or judgment. Assure youre child that it is not his or her fault.

Police say Jamison had no previous criminal background.

Were told he resigned after last school year to take a job at a school district in York.

Jamison remains locked up at the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $500,000 bail.

The Scranton Diocese issued letters about the arrest to parents in the school system. Other parishioners in the region will be notified through a church bulletin.

Were told guidance counselors will be on hand to assist students next week.
