Church's Youth Mentor Held on Sex Crimes By Matthew Hamilton The News-Star January 24, 2009 http://www.thenewsstar.com/article/20090124/NEWS01/901240311 A Sterlington youth mentor accused of molesting three teenage boys remained in custody at Ouachita Correctional Center on Friday. On Wednesday, Sterlington police arrested Jeremy Little, 23, on two charges of molestation of a juvenile, sexual battery and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. Little, a youth mentor at the Assembly of God Church at Sterlington, was booked at OCC on a bond of $90,750. Probation and parole officers also placed a detainer on Little. Sterlington Police Chief Barry Bonner said a stepmother of a 17-year-old boy told police her stepson may have been molested during a sleepover at a churchgoer's house. Bonner said a talk with the 17-year-old warranted further investigation, and police identified two other possible victims, both 16 years old. Police called Little in to interview and claimed the youth mentor gave a recorded confession to fondling the two 16-year-old males while one was intoxicated and the other while he was asleep. Little allegedly provided an alcoholic beverage, a mix of vodka and Kool-Aid, to the 17-year-old and fondled him when he was asleep as well. Bonner said the investigation into Little's activities is still ongoing, and he is asking parents to talk with their children to see if they've had any contact with Little. "When it's something of this magnitude, we want kids to get the help they need," Bonner said. The Assembly of God Church will be offering counseling from the Child Advocacy Center for anyone involved in the incident. Bonner said Little had told the church of a previous drug conviction and his two-year probation term. Little had no record of child abuse, and the church decided to hire him despite his criminal history. "Unfortunately he had this hidden inside him." Bonner said.
