	Former Fort Myers Priest under Investigation The News-Press December 27, 2008 http://www.news-press.com/article/20081227/NEWS0110/81227019/1075 A former St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church priest is under investigation, according to a letter Diocese of Venice Bishop Frank Dewane wrote. “Bishop Frank Dewane read a letter to the congregation about charges leveled again a former priest who was here in 1993,” said Mike Purdy, an information center employee of The News-Press, who attended today’s 4 p.m. mass at St. Francis Xavier in Fort Myers. “He (the priest) has denied the allegations but has agreed to discontinue his duties until such time the investigation can be completed.”
