He was very unpleasant and rude. He threw me out - the boy`s mother claims. JOSIPOVAC, CROATIA – A 13-year-old D.T. returned home on Thursday with a scratched face and in tears. His mother first thought he was bullied by older pupils, but she was shocked when she heard her son was attacked by - a priest. The boy told her the priest made them kneel, but he objected it, because Sunday school was not held at church, but in a basement. The priest approached the boy, grabbed his face and started shaking him. When the boy wanted to go out, the priest shouted at him: “Get back, you animal!”. The mother, who went to see the priest he next day, confirmed: - He told me my son was an animal and that he disrupted the class. He was very unpleasant and rude. He threw me out and said I can press charges before a court and the Pope, because nobody can touch him – the mother said, quoted by a line of Croatian media. The mother took her son to the doctor`s. He was pale and scared, while a small vein burst in his ear from stress. He needs to be examined every day. Mate Sockovic, St. Joseph`s vicar in Josipovac, justified himself by saying the boy was disturbing the class and he just pushed him out of the room. - The boy was problematic. If his family failed to raise him, there are institutions where such are corrected in behaviour – the vicar said, defending himself with 46 years in priesthood, based on which he has the right to demand order and discipline.
