Priest Sex Abuse Case Goes to Vt. Supreme Court WCAX October 27, 2008 http://www.wcax.com/Global/story.asp?S=9242723 A priest sex abuse case is going to the Vermont Supreme Court. Last year, 47-year-old James Turner sued Vermont's Roman Catholic Diocese claiming that 30 years ago, they knowingly hired a pedophile priest. A jury agreed and awarded him $15,000. But the jury also found that Turner filed his suit after the statute of limitations expired, and denied him the money. Turner is appealing the verdict, saying a catholic parishioner was a member of the jury. The Diocese says the Constitution prohibits a court from determining how a priest is picked. |
