My counselor put me on to it. It is about the effects that male victims of sexual abuse deal with. 1 in 6. 1 in 6. 1 in 6 males are abuse by another male before the age of 16. I was one of them. I am 1 in 6. I failed miserably the other day. I had an opportunity to stand up in front of the battalion I am in with the Army and talk for a minute about sexual assault during a family advocacy brief. I didn't. I started shaking and I got scared. Male on male sexual assault is not talked about enough, and when it is, like the other day, people laugh about it, and they don't take it seriously. So many people think it's so un-masculine for a male to be abused, like if it happens to us we ask for it. Trust me, I didn't ask for this. I didn't ask to be 1 in 6. Anyways, this article is long, but it has a lot of insight on how marriages are effected and relationships with significant others are effected when the male has past sexual abuse issues that have not been dealt with. For those of you in my club, the Male on Male Sexual Abuse Club (MMSAC), I think this is a very important article to read. Those of you who have been abuse ini any way shape or form, I think it's an important article to read, abd for everyone else, I think it is a very important read for the simple fact that 17 million American males have been abused; chances are you know one of them. I promise you, no matter what any victim says, we need help. We want help.
