A man who says he was sexually abused by a staff member at a school in central western NSW is urging other victims to come forward.

The man, who gave his name only as James, said he was abused at a school in Bathurst in the 1970s when he was 14 years old.

Now in his 40s, he said he was molested three times over a period of about three months and the incidents deeply upset him.

"It was a little frightening. I felt violated. I knew it was wrong and yet each time he came to me I felt like, oh yeah, OK," he told Fairfax Radio Network on Thursday.

"He came back again and again.

"It went on over a period of two or three months."

James, who would not name the school, was encouraged by a friend to tell the principal, who contacted his parents and the police.

"I want to encourage people to come forward and tell their story to the police," he said.

"The police are really good. They've been trained in this thing now."

Former students from two schools in Bathurst - the Catholic St Stanislaus College and the Anglican All Saints College - have come forward this year alleging they were sexually abused by staff in the 1970s and 1980s.

At St Stanislaus, it is alleged boys were sexually abused during hypnotic late-night prayer and chanting sessions.

Brian Spillane, 65, from Narwee in Sydney's southwest, was charged in May with 33 offences that police allege took place at St Stanislaus. A further 60 charges were laid against him on Tuesday, after eight more alleged victims came forward.

On Wednesday, a 66-year-old Catholic brother, arrested at Marsfield in Sydney's northwest, was charged with 28 child sexual offences relating to his time at the same school.

He has been bailed to appear at Bathurst Local Court on September 15. Spillane is due to appear in the same court on the same day to answer the new charges against him.

Also due to appear on that day is a 65-year-old priest from Armidale, in northern NSW, who has been charged with four child sex offences.

A 63-year-old Queensland man, a former teacher at All Saints College, has been charged with three counts of indecent assault relating to alleged abuse of a boy in 1973.

He has been bailed to appear at Bathurst Local Court on November 17.

Police said the only link between the incidents at the two schools was the time frame in which they occurred, but a combined police strike force would incorporate both investigations.
