	RTE Action against Complaints Commission Settled RTE News July 30, 2008 http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/breaking-news/ireland/rte-action-against-complaints-commission-settled-13925174.html An action taken against the Broadcasting Complaints Commission by RTE over a decision made against its coverage of the Ferns inquiry into sexual abuses has been settled. A viewer complained about a background image using religious symbols including rosary beads and a priest's collar in a report on the findings of the Ferns inquiry on the Six One news in December 2005. The BCC upheld the complaint on the basis that it was inappropriate and likely to offend taste and decency. This was not accepted by RTE and a judicial review was sought. Under the terms of the settlement agreed today RTE is no longer required to broadcast the terms of the BCC's decision, while the status of the proceedings will be detailed in the Commission's annual report and on its website.
