A day after a Schleicher County grand jury indicted six members of a polygamous sect, one of the leaders of the investigation said he expects further charges.

Texas Ranger Capt. L.C. Wilson told the Standard-Times this afternoon that investigators have almost finished reviewing the roughly 300 boxes of paper evidence retrieved from the YFZ Ranch in the state's investigation into alleged sexual abuse among followers of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, but that terabytes of digital evidence remain.

"We look for future indictments," said Wilson, who is based in Midland. "There's a lot of paper and documents. As we get the evidence, we'll present the cases to the grand jury."

One terabyte is enough capacity to store 1 million high-resolution photographs at one megabyte per image.

The grand jury will meet again Aug. 21. In the meantime, authorities will begin seeking the five men accused of sex-related crimes in the case so far.

The men are believed to have retained attorneys, Wilson said, and officials will first attempt to contact them through their counsel.

The grand jury issued seven indictments against six sect members, encompassing nine total charges.

Sect leader Warren Jeffs, already imprisoned for marrying a 14-year-old girl to her 19-year-old cousin in Utah and facing trial in Arizona, was indicted on a charge of sexual assault of a child for an incident that took place "on or before" Jan. 14, 2005.

Four other suspects also face sexual assault charges, with one also indicted on a charge of bigamy. A sixth man is charged with three counts of failing to report child abuse.

Efforts to arrest the men remain in the planning stages, Schleicher County Sheriff David Doran said, and no action has yet been taken in the case.
