SEATTLE -- The pastor of a Monroe church has been asked to take administrative leave while the Catholic Church conducts an investigation following a recent allegation of sexual abuse of a minor occurring in the late 1960s, a news release from the Seattle office of the Archdiocese said.

Archbishop Alex J. Brunett said that based upon the findings he would either reinstate the pastor or continue his administrative leave pending action by the Vatican.

The pastor had previously been on administrative leave in 2004 for a separate allegation but returned to his parish after the investigation was completed.

Brunett urges anyone who has knowledge of allegations of sexual abuse of a minor by a member of the clergy, an employee or volunteer of the Archdiocese of Seattle to call the Archdiocesan Hotline at 1-800-446-7762.
