	Priest Resigns after Sexual Proposal Aired Ninemsn (Australia) June 25, 2008 http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=586294 The Roman Catholic Diocese of Spain's Canary Island of Tenerife has accepted the resignation of a priest who was seen making sexual propositions to a woman in a tape broadcast on local television. Bishop Bernardo Alvarez of Tenerife also suspended the priest from his religious duties as a precuation while the incident is investigated, the diocese said in a statement posted on its website. "The priest mentioned in the news report expressed to the bishop his desire to step down from the parish where he carried out his pastoral duties. The bishop immediately accepted his resignation," the statement said. "The bishop profoundly laments what happened and apologizes to anyone who felt hurt," it added. The images of the priest sexually harassing the women were recorded using a hidden camera and broadcast on Monday night on Television Canaria.
