Anti Abortion Vigil to Be Held at Catholic Bishops Conference in Orlando June 13-14; Ad to Run in Orlando Sentinel: 'In Search of 12 Apostles' By Joe Landry Christian Newswire June 10, 2008 http://www.earnedmedia.org/sftj0610.htm WASHINGTON, June 10 /Christian Newswire/ -- On Friday, June 13 (10 a.m. -- 4 p.m.), and Saturday, June 14, (10 a.m. -- 1 p.m.), Catholic pro-life activists will hold a vigil in front of the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress during the bi-annual meeting of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). Address: 1 Grand Cypress Blvd, Orlando FL, 32836. Also on June 13, the following newspaper ad, In Search of 12 Apostles, will run in the Orlando Sentinel. See ad at www.ahumbleplea.com/OrlandoAd.htm The ad shows the photos of prominent "pro-choice" politicians, and compares them to Herod - the King who ordered the death of the infants in Bethlehem. The ad begins: "Bishops: Should we vote for Herod after he slaughtered the Holy Innocents? "Should we serve Herod Holy Communion while his hands dripped with their innocent blood? "How then, can we vote for or serve communion to those who promote child-killing (abortion on demand) today?" We are praying for 12 Catholic bishops in America to boldly, publicly, repeatedly, and without equivocation state: 1) "No politician who supports the murder of innocent children will be permitted to receive the holy Eucharist." And… 2) "No Catholic may in good conscience vote for any candidate who supports child- killing (abortion), beginning with Barack Obama." These principles are part of the very fiber of the apostolic teaching and heritage, as shown from the quotes from JPII and Benedict XVI. Throughout Church history, God's prophets and Apostles have confronted kings, queens, princes and judges by name. For example: Justin Martyr rebuked three Caesars in succession by name; St. Athanasius rebuked Emperor Constantius by name; 13 Catholic Bishops rebuked King John of England by name, and helped bring about the Magna Carta; St. Stanislaus, Bishop and martyr, excommunicated King Boleslaus II for his scandalous lifestyle; both St. John Fisher (a bishop) and St. Thomas More opposed Henry VIII for his rebellion to the church. Many of the above were persecuted and martyred for their courageous stands – and now they are saints. The Bible records that Nathan confronted King David by name; Jeremiah rebuked kings Jehoiakim and Zedekiah by name; Elijah rebuked King Ahab and Queen Jezebel by name; Daniel rebuked Belshaz'zar by name -- to show but a few. And of course, Saint John the Baptist rebuked Herod Antipas to his face; the Baptist is said to be the greatest of all prophets. Should we scorn his example, or follow it? "Serving communion to pro-abortion politicians puts their souls in peril and brings scandal to the Church; voting for pro-abortion politicians brings corruption in the church, and puts our souls in peril. "We are praying that 12 Bishops will have Apostolic Courage and Clarity, and use every means at their disposal to herald the gospel of life in this election. The duty to do so is clear. It is only a question of valor." Randall Terry, Founder, Operation Rescue For more info, or to schedule an interview with Randall Terry, contact Joe Landry at 406 860 9738 |
