Catholic Priest on Trial for Historical Sex Charges Radio New Zealand June 9, 2008 http://www.radionz.co.nz/news/latest/200806091642/2bd7a1a The prosecution has opened its case in the High Court trial of a Catholic clergyman accused of sexual abuse. Rodger Moloney, 72, is charged with abusing boys while he was in charge of Marylands School in Christchurch, run by the St John of God order, in the 1970s. Prosecution lawyer Kerryn Beaton told the jury the school was intended to educate disabled boys. The 11 complainants allege Mr Moloney indecently assaulted them in his office, in school toilets, and in the dormitories. The trial is expected to take three weeks. |
