	Civil Complaint Filed against Father Ted Oswald By Tiffany Revelle Record-Bee June 2, 2008 http://www.record-bee.com/ci_9459757?source=most_viewed LAKE COUNTY — An investigation is under way after a civil complaint alleging sexual abuse was filed against Father Ted Oswald, according to a Monday press release from the Lakeport Police Department (LPD). The Roman Catholic Diocese of Santa Rosa reported to the LPD in late May that it had been served with the civil complaint alleging that Oswald committed sexual abuse between 1988 and 1995, according to the release. Oswald served as chaplain for the LPD for two years, and for 11 years at the Lake County Sheriff's Office. "This was a civil law suit. A civil complaint is a civil law suit. There was no crime alleged here," Lake County Sheriff Rodney Mitchell said Monday. Oswald was not arrested in connection with the complaint as of press time Monday, according to booking information found at www.lakesheriff.com. "Ted Oswald asked me last week for a leave of absence until the matter can be resolved, and I granted that," Mitchell said. The LPD put Oswald on administrative leave, according to the release.
