Dolan Orders Audits for All Catholic Parishes By Jay Sorgi WTMJ May 16, 2008 http://www.620wtmj.com/news/local/19006359.html All of Milwaukee's Catholic parishes will get visits from some bean counters. Archbishop Timothy Dolan has ordered financial reviews for all 211 parishes in the 10-county Archdiocese.
The Journal Sentinel says it's a move to make sure that volunteers and church employees are not trying to steal donations. A number of churches on the East Coast have recently gone through embezzlement scandals. St. John Vianney Parish in Brookfield is currently going through an audit to see if a former pastor, Fr. Leonard Van Vlaenderen took money from the parish. St. Francis Police caught Fr. Van Vlaenderen possessing cocaine in December. |
