Boston Priest Returns to Work; Some Outraged NECN April 30, 2008 http://www.necn.com/Boston/New-England/Boston-priest-returns-to-work-some-outraged-/1209588106.html# [with video] (NECN: Brad Puffer, Boston, Mass.) - A support group for victims of clergy abuse is speaking out against a priest who was recently reinstated by the Boston Archdiocese. Members of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP) held a news conference Wednesday outside the Boston Archdiocese headquarters to talk about their concerns regarding the Reverend Jerome Gillispie, who was returned to parish work after accusations against him involving a 12-year-old girl. Gillispie was in a Chelsea, Massachusetts restaurant three years ago when he allegedly offered to pay the girl and her mother for oral sex. A court dismissed charges against Gillespie, who has also undergone court-ordered evaluations for alcohol, psychiatric and sexual problems. The Boston Archdiocese says Gillispie has satisfied all court obligations and been determined fit to return to ministry. |
