Addio gruppetto di fedeli al seguito. Addio anche a quel colletto bianco della camicia che dal momento della sua ordinazione l'aveva accompagnato per quasi vent'anni. Da venerdi Sante Sguotti e tornato un laico come tanti. Devo proprio fare i complimenti a chi sta organizzando tutto questo contro di me - esordisce alla conferenza stampa - Pur di demolirmi sarebbero disposti a tutto. Guarda caso le mie dimissioni dallo stato clericale sono state firmate da Papa Benedetto XVI il 9 aprile, lo stesso giorno in cui hanno bussato alla mia porta le Fiamme Gialle. Per carita, che la coincidenza dia un po' da pensare e innegabile. Ma arrivare a sospettare che addirittura Papa Ratzinger entri a far parte di una congiura per eliminare lo "scandalo don Sante " forse e un po' troppo. Eppure non ci sono dubbi per il prete papa di Monterosso. Neanche cosi pero riusciranno a fermarmi - ha continuato Sante Sguotti - ognuno spende la propria vita come gli pare. Io ho una missione e la portero avanti contro tutto e tutti. Le indagini che vedon o Sante Sguotti accusato di truffa e di appropriazione indebita sono partite da una segnalazione anonima. Una segnalazione che, a detta dello stesso Sante , non puo che essere stata fatta da quei "poteri forti" che lui stesso ha piu volte sfidato dalla scorsa estate ad oggi. Questo e quello che succede a chi contesta la Chiesa - ha proseguito poi - ora saro costretto a pagare di tasca mia avvocati per difendermi. Probabilmente e questo quello che vogliono, solo quando mi vedranno mendicare in parte ad una strada saranno soddisfatti della loro azione. Magari qualche virgola fuori posto (o, come detto dallo stesso Sante Sguotti , nel corso di una conferenza stampa "qualche fattura non fotocopiata") ci potra pur essere nella contabilita della parrocchia ma per il prete ribelle non ci sono dubbi: si tratta di una congiura. Tutti i finanziamenti ottenuti dalla parrocchia (in particolare sono 50 mila euro don ati dalla Fondazione Cariparo e dalla Regione Veneto ad interessare le fiamme gialle) sarebbero stati spesi per il meglio, secondo l'ex prete della piccola parrocchia di Monterosso. Intanto vista la gravita dei reati ipotizzati a suo carico gia nei prossimi giorni per favorire le indagini, condotte dal pm Silvia Scamurra, potrebbe essere deciso il blocco dei conti correnti dello stesso Sguotti . Una brutta settimana quella che si sta concludendo per l'ex-prete ribelle. Prima l'avviso di garanzia che lo vede imputato per truffa e appropriazione indebita, poi la riduzione allo stato laicale firmata dallo stesso Papa Benedetto XVI. Ma non sembra perdere per questo la sua vis polemica. La misericordia del Signore e senza limiti - ha concluso infine - ma quella della Chiesa ne ha, eccome se ne ha!. The investigations for the alleged crimes committed by Sante Sguotti, who must respond of embezzlement and undue appropriation, started by an anonymous tip, which according to Sante, couldn't but be the work of those "strong powers" he often defied since last summer. "That is what happens to those who challenge the Church - he went on saying - now to defend myself I'll be forced to spend my money for the lawyers. It's very likely that's what they want, they will be satisfied only when they'll see me begging for money in some street corner". It could even be that something irregular will be found in the parish book accounts, like a comma in the wrong side or (as he said during another press conference) some photocopied invoices, but for the rebel priest there are no doubts: what's going on is a conspiracy . All the grants obtained by the parish (particularly the fifty thousand euros donated by the Fondazione Cariparo and by the Veneto Region under scrutiny by the Finance police, the so called "Yellow Flames") were spent in the best possible way, according to the former priest of the small parish of Monterosso. Meanwhile, for the gravity of the alleged crimes, the investigators led by the Public Prosecutor Silvia Scamurra could block Sguotti's current accounts. A bad week has been ending for the former rebel priest. First the warrant where he was warned he was under investigation for an alleged fraud and undue appropriation, then the reduction to the lay state signed by the same Pope Benedict XVI. But that doesn't make him abandon his will for polemics. "The Lord's mercy is limitless - he concluded at the end - but the one shown by the Church has a limit, that's for sure!".
