SACRAMENTO — It's been nearly two decades since 26 year old Gabriela Enriquez allegedly endured years of sexual abuse by Father Gerardo Beltran at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sacramento.

She decided to come forward now, only because police in Mexico arrested him last month after he was on the run for 16 years.

The alleged abuse by Father Beltran began when Enriquez became an altar server while preparing to make her First Communion.

Between 1989 and 1991, young Gabriela was allegedly molested numerous times a week, until Beltran fled to Mexico when the Yanez family reported that he had sexually abused their two daughters, then ages 12 and 4.

Yanez came forward only after she learned that Beltran had victimized her little sister as well.

Gabriela Enriquez never planned to tell anyone about her molestation until the recent arrest. Telling her mother was almost has difficult as keeping the secret.

Even though it took Gabriela Enriquez 17 years to reveal the alleged abuse by Father Beltran, she believes he has many more victims out there, and hopes they will be encouraged to come forward.
