Former St. Hubert's Educator Faces Charges of Sexual Contact with Student By Christine Olley Philadelphia Daily News March 5, 2008 http://www.philly.com/dailynews/local/20080305_Former_St__Huberts_educator_faces_charges_of_sexual_contact_with_student.html A former high-school administrator for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia turned himself in to Special Victims Unit investigators Monday to face allegations of having months of inappropriate sexual contact with a student. Scott Healey, 27, worked as the director of institutional advancement at St. Hubert's High School for Girls from October 2005 to August 2007, according to Donna Farrell, director of communications for the archdiocese. Police were notified of the inappropriate conduct Feb. 8, when the female student, who was 15 at the time the alleged abuse started, told a teacher, who contacted police. Healey allegedly started having inappropriate sexual conversations with the victim, including sending her sexually oriented text messages, in January 2007, according to Sgt. Brian King, of the Special Victims Unit. "He then started to take her into his office, where he would fondle her and have inappropriate sexual contact with her," King said. "All of the incidents took place on school property and after regular school hours," King said. All the incidents, which allegedly took place between January and August of last year, were consensual acts but, because the victim is a minor, Healey faces criminal charges, King said. Healey is charged with endangering the welfare of a child and corrupting the morals of a minor, police said. "It's always a concern when you have someone like that around juveniles," said Lt. Frank Vanore, a police spokesman. "It's for the safety of the children in the schools that he has been removed and pulled out of the school system," Vanore said. The archdiocese was made aware of the allegations against Healey at the beginning of February, Farrell said. While police investigated, Healey was placed on administrative leave. After leaving St. Hubert's, Healey was hired by Northeast Catholic High School for Boys, where he held the same position until being fired on Monday, Farrell said. "On Monday, St. Hubert's and Northeast Catholic sent letters to parents of all students of both schools to inform the parents of the situation and also to offer parents some resources," Farrell said. "It takes tremendous courage for a young person to come forward with allegations of abuse, and it [the letter] encouraged anyone to come forward, and also offered parents some help on how to help their children through situations like this," Farrell said.
