AdelaideNow has learned the man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, has yet to enter pleas to seven counts of indecent assault and four counts of unlawful sexual intercourse. The man, aged in his mid-60s, was arrested in Depok, West Jakarta, on February 20 at the request of Australian authorities. He is currently being held at a police station in South Jakarta. On three occasions, the Adelaide Magistrates Court has issued warrants for the man's arrest, each one listing his address as "Jakarta, Indonesia". The first warrant, issued in 1997, relates to allegations he committed an act of unlawful sexual intercourse in the southern suburbs in March 1994. The court issued another warrant in August 2006 relating to different charges. That file alleges the man committed a separate act of unlawful sexual intercourse, in the same southern suburb, in March 1994. The third warrant, issued in November 2006, relates to nine offences. It claims the man committed three acts of indecent assault at a Mid-North town between January 1977 and January 1979, and between November 1979 and June 1980. The man is further alleged to have committed two acts of indecent assault at another mid-North town between January 1981 and February 1982, and a third between January 1982 and February 1982. The warrant further alleges he committed another indecent assault at a Spencer Gulf town between July 1982 and October 1982. Finally, it accuses him of two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse. The first allegedly occurred at another Spencer Gulf town between February 1982 and October 1982, and the second at a location in Adelaide's southern suburbs in March 1994. |
