Kenneth Whitwell's lawsuit against the Diocese of Wilmington has been settled and that it recognizes its moral obligation to him. The only way the church can regain its credibility is by acknowledging all victims of clerical sexual abuse, apologizing and providing justice to them. I am grateful to Delaware lawmakers for changing the statute of limitations for civil cases. I hope the church will lead in other states as statute of limitations laws are being challenged. Justice might be expensive, but it is the right thing to do.
