A former Roman Catholic priest sentenced to probation last week for sexually abusing two Bullitt County boys is now living just south of Indianapolis and has registered as a sex offender in that state.

Daniel C. Clark, 59, is living in Greenwood in Johnson County, according to the Indiana Sheriffs' Sex and Violent Offender Registry Web site.

Clark pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree sexual abuse of the Bullitt County boys.

His original conviction in 2003 was overturned by the Kentucky Supreme Court last year after he had served nearly half a 10-year prison sentence. The court cited errors the trial judge made in instructions to the jury and in allowing testimony from a man who said he was victimized by Clark in the 1980s

The plea agreement imposed the same 10-year sentence, but allowed Clark to serve the rest on probation as long as he avoids more crimes and does not live, work or volunteer with underage youths.

The Vatican ousted Clark from the priesthood in 2004, 16 years after he was convicted in an earlier sex-abuse case. Clark also was accused of sexual abuse in several lawsuits against the Archdiocese of Louisville that were settled.
