Members of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP) say Brown County District Attorney John Zakowski has agreed to meet with them.

The group requested the meeting Tuesday.

SNAP says it not only wants to verify the Green Bay Catholic Diocese turned over the names of clergy it investigated for substantiated allegations of sexual abuse but also wants the D.A. to release the names and whereabouts of those clergy members.

The support group is hoping to uncover what it says are years of cover-ups by the diocese. The diocese says it's handed all pertinent information over to law enforcement.

Officials with SNAP say a meeting with the D.A. is a good first step for their support group but it's not enough.

"We'll do an email alert, and our involvement with district attorneys has become more and more successful over the past few years. The District Attorneys Association in Wisconsin is an organization we'll be reaching out to," Peter Isely, SNAP's Midwest director, said.

SNAP hopes district attorneys across the state will release names and locations of the clergy when accusations have been substantiated.

"These again are not individuals that have been simply accused. SNAP doesn't want these names [of unsubstantiated allegations] released. That would be wrong, that would be unethical, and it would send a dangerous signal," Isely said.

Catholic dioceses other than Green Bay have released names.

Outagamie County District Attorney Carrie Schneider says it's an issue she would examine if requested.

"I would really have to see under what cases and what rule did the diocese provide those, and then, am I limited in any way in further disclosing that information? And if I am, I'll advise them I can't and they can contact the diocese. But if I don't find anything that prohibits the disclosure, then I would comply with their request."
