Christopher C. Sprinkel, 32, of Shelbina was found guilty of felony child molestation in the first degree during a jury trial at Macon County Courthouse on Jan. 3 and 4. The trial, presided by Judge Hadley E. Grimm, was moved to Macon County on a change of venue from Shelby County.

Sprinkel formerly served as youth minister at the United Methodist Church of Shelbina, according to a Feb. 2006 article from the Shelbina Weekly newspaper.

Sprinkel was placed in custody at the Macon County Jail, and is awaiting sentencing. The range of punishment for this offense is five to fifteen years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Following the verdict a Sentencing Assessment Report was ordered by Judge Grimm, and defense attorneys were granted additional time to file a motion for a new trial.

Following the guilty verdict, an ambulance was called to the the Macon County Courthouse for Sprinkel who passed out in the courtroom.

Post trial motions have been set for Feb. 27 at Macon County Courthouse at 3 p.m. in front of Judge Grimm.
