Jeni Lee Dinkel is out of jail, but the 51-year-old Northern Kentucky woman convicted of raping a 15-year-old boy still faces a lawsuit filed by the boy's mother.

Dinkel, of Villa Hills, wife of former Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Tom Dinkel, was released Saturday from the Kenton County Jail, where she served 60 days as ordered by Kenton Circuit Judge Greg Bartlett.

Pending is a lawsuit filed three weeks ago against Dinkel, her husband, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Covington, Covington Catholic High School Principal Michael Clines and Park Hills Police Chief Rick Smith.

The lawsuit, filed by the victim's mother in Kenton Circuit Court, accuses the defendants of "willful, wanton, reckless and grossly negligent conduct" that inflicted permanent mental and emotional injury on the boy.

The suit claims Jeni Lee Dinkel pursued the boy for several months and had sexual intercourse with him several times and says the other defendants didn't do enough to investigate it or stop it.

The diocese, which operates the school where the boy was a student, contends it and the school complied with legal obligations in the matter.

In addition to the 60-day jail sentence, Dinkel was placed on 5 years of probation and she must register as a sex offender, receive counseling, substance abuse treatment, pay a $2,500 fine, and do 200 hours of community service. She could have been sentenced to five years in jail.
