	Davenport Diocese Reaches Settlement Agreement with Abuse Victims Associated Press, carried in ABC 5 December 3, 2007 http://www.woi-tv.com/Global/story.asp?S=7443025&nav=1LFX DES MOINES, Iowa - The Diocese of Davenport has agreed to a $37 million settlement for victims of sexual abuse by its clergy. Martin J. Amos, the bishop of Davenport, said in a statement released Monday that the settlement offers "the best opportunity for healing" for victims of clergy abuse. He also says it's the best route to allow the Davenport Diocese to continue its mission. The church expects to include the settlement in a reorganization plan it will file in bankruptcy court. Church officials expect distribution of the money to begin by July of next year. Church officials said victims who receive money from the settlement will remain anonymous and that money will also be set aside for any future claims.
