Un noto sacerdote altoatesino è stato condannato ieri dal tribunale di Siracusa ad un anno e mezzo di reclusione (pena sospesa) per detenzione di immagini pedopornografiche. Si tratta di don Hansjorg Rigger, decano dello studio teologico accademico di Bressanone dove è professore ordinario di "Nuovo testamento" e "Sacra scrittura". Il religioso era finito nei guai due anni fa a seguito di indagini dei carabinieri sugli scambi di materiale pedopornografico via internet. Gli inquirenti erano riusciti a individuare un sito proibito identificando e denunciando 186 utenti dotati di password d'accesso. Don Hansjorg Rigger non ha mai voluto entrare nel ruolo di indagato prima e di imputato poi. Si è sempre comportato come se l'accusa formulata dalla Procura di Siracusa non lo riguardasse, anche se aveva dovuto prendere atto che proprio sul suo computer (che all'epoca del blitz dei carabinieri era stato sequestrato) erano state rinvenute un centinaio di foto pedopornografiche, cioè di bambini e ragazzini in pose sessuali. I carabinieri del nucleo investigativo telematico erano arrivati al suo computer seguendo la connessione al sito proibito con password con contestuale "scaricamento elettronico" delle immagini. Il sito conteneva anche filmati di abusi sessuali, maltrattamenti e torture nei confronti di bambine di età compresa tra i 4 e gli 8 anni. La storia di questa complessa inchiesta condotta dalla magistratura (che ha coinvolto altri due sacerdoti italiani) non ha però mai visto il prete altoatesino impegnato a difendersi in maniera adeguata. Don Rigger non ha neppure ritenuto opportuno o necessario nominare un avvocato difensore di fiducia e non ha mai voluto presenziare ad alcuna udienza ritenendo, probabilmente, di non essere toccato dall'imputazione. In realtà tutti gli accertamenti di carattere tecnico hanno permesso di appurare che effettivamente nella memoria del computer in uso al sacerdore erano state scaricate immagini proibite. La sentenza di ieri ha accolto in pieno le richieste del procuratore aggiunto di Siracusa Giuseppe Toscano e del sostituto Antonio Nicastro. Oltre alla pena detentiva, don Rigger è stato anche condannato al pagamento di una multa di 2 mila euro. Dovrà anche risarcire il danno e le spese sostenute dall'associazione "Telefono arcobaleno" che si è costituita parte civile nel procedimento. L'inchiesta dei carabinieri era stata denominata "video prive'" ed aveva riguardato uno "stato profondo" della rete cui erano in grado di accedere soltanto gli utenti ben inseriti nei sodalizi internazionali di promozione e scambio di immagini pedopornografiche. A questo punto si attende la reazione di don Hansjorg Rigger che anche ieri non ha rilasciato alcuna dichiarazione ma che dovrà a questo punto decidere come affrontare l'eventuale processo di secondo grado. A well-known priest from Alto Adige was sentenced yesterday by the Siracusa tribunal to one-and-a-half years in jail (with the penalty suspended) for detention of pedo- pornographic images. The priest is the Rev. Hasnsjorg Rigger, dean of the academic and theological studio of Bressanone where he is a tenured professor for New Testament and Holy Scripture. Two years ago, he was indicted following a carabinieri investigation of the exchange of pedo-pornographic material through the internet. The investigators were able to identify an illegal site and to denounce 186 users who were in possession of the secret password. Rev. Hansjorg Rigger had never accepted his role of first being investigated and then accused of the crime. He behaved as if those accusations by the Siracusa prosecutor weren't related to him, even if he had to accept the fact that his computer (which had been sequestered during a blitz by the carabinieri) contained hundreds of images of pedophilia and pornography content. The images represented children and boys in sexual postures. The carabinieri had traced his computer after having connected to the illegal site with a password which allowed the contextual electronic unloading of the images. The site also contained films on sexual abuse, mistreatments and torture of girls between ages 4 and 8. The story deetails a complex investigation (in which which two other Italian priests wee involved) and showed the priest from the Alto Adige region wasn't able to defend himself very well. The priest didn't want to have a lawyer and didn't want to be present at the process, thinking he probably would avoid the arraignment. In fact, all the technical data in the memory of his computer proved he unloaded those images. The ruling issued yesterday accepted the request by the adjunct prosecutor of Siracusa, Giuseppe Toscano, and of his substitute, Antonio Nicastro. In addition to jail terms, the priest was ordered to pay a fine of 2,000 euros. He will also have to pay for the expenses sustained by the association "Telefono arcobaleno" (Rainbow telephone), which was considered as one of the offended party. The carabinieri investigation had been dubbed as "video prive" and was meant to explore the "stato profondo" (deep in the profundity) of the world Web, where only special users could have access to the international organizations for the promotion and exchange of pornographic and pedophilic images. At this point the reaction of Rev. Hansjorg Rigger is being awaited: the priest, until yesterday, didn't make any statement and will have to decide for a possible appeal.
