Sante Sguotti has been suspended "a divinis." The reason he can no longer act as a priest is because he declared to be in love with a woman who is mother of a child. The decree, signed by Monsignor Mattiazzo, bishop of Padua, was given to Rev. Sante on Friday, the day after it was made known in the diocese. "The decree, which follows the other two of his removal from parish priest and the starting of a penal and administrative trial, can be read in the diocese's note that was signed by Bishop Mattiazzo after an examination held together with two priests assessors and of the arguments and after having examined every aspect of the situation of the interested party as it is set by the canon discipline. The decree has an immediate and permanent effect. Practically, it means the priest can no longer administer the sacraments nor receive and exercise duties reserve to the clergy. "I didn't expect they would donate a bunch of flowers," Rev. Sguotti said. "I'm not surprised. I knew that would be the outcome. I wasn't really expecting flowers for my birthday," he said. These are Rev. Sante's words when he reacted coldly to the news about his suspension "a divinis." "I'm going ahead and I'll do whatever is my intention to do," he said. The suspension impedes him from saying Mass but he announced he will try to "go ahead no matter what as far as it will be possible," he said. MONTEROSSO - Don Sante Sguotti, l’ex parroco di Monterosso finito nelle cronache per aver dichiarato di essere innamorato di una donna madre di un bambino, e stato sospeso a divinis. Il decreto, firmato dal vescovo di Padova, monsignor Antonio Mattiazzo, e stato notificato all’interessato venerdi e diffuso sabato dalla diocesi veneta. «Il decreto, che segue quello di rimozione da parroco e quello di avvio di un processo penale e amministrativo - si legge nella nota della Diocesi - e stato firmato dal vescovo Mattiazzo, dopo la discussione insieme a due sacerdoti assessori delle prove e degli argomenti e dopo aver esaminato ogni elemento in merito alla situazione del sacerdote interessato, cosi come previsto dalla disciplina canonica. Il decreto ha effetto immediato dal momento della notifica al sacerdote ed e a tempo indeterminato». In pratica significa che il sacerdote e sospeso dall’esercizio della potesta di ordine e di governo, ovvero che «non puo piu assolvere alle funzioni attinenti al ministero sacerdotale ne ricevere ed esercitare incarichi riservati ai chierici». «NON MI ASPETTAVO FIORI» - «La cosa non mi stupisce, sapevo che la faccenda sarebbe andata cosi, non mi aspettavo certo i fiori per il compleanno». Parole di don Sante, che ha reagito con freddezza alla notizia della sospensione a divinis. «Io vado avanti per la mia strada e faro quello che avevo in mente di fare». Con la sospensione scatta il divieto per l'ex parroco di Monterosso di celebrare messa, ma lui ha annunciato che cerchera di «andare avanti nonostante tutto, finche sara possibile».
