John Hanna, Board President Hanna is an attorney in private practice and resides in Orange. He was elected to the Board in 1998 and is currently serving his second term as president. During his tenure on the Board, Hanna has distinguished himself as an outspoken bipartisan leader, who – with his fellow Trustees – has led system-wide legislative reform efforts to expand vocational training and adult education programs. In addition to serving as board president, he is currently serving as the vice chair on the Community College League's Advisory Committee on Legislation. Hanna is also active in a wide range of community organizations including the Community Foundation of Orange and has been a strong advocate for local control of community colleges. A longtime Orange County resident and civic leader, Hanna holds a bachelor's degree from California State University, Fullerton, (CSUF) and a law degree from Loyola University School of Law. President Hanna can be reached by email. Phillip Yarbrough, Board Vice President Phil was elected to the board in 1996 and is serving his third term. He currently serves as Vice President and Chair of the Fiscal and Audit Review Committee. Before being elected to the board, Phil spent his evenings as a College Professor at Santa Ana College and Santiago Canyon College in Orange where he taught Economics. Phil is the owner of Nations Financial Mortgage Corporation, and Pacific Estates & Investments, a real estate investment and management company. Dedicated to improving the quality of life in Orange County, Phil previously served as an Executive Board member with Mothers against Drunk Driving, and served on the board of the Orange County Chapter of the American Lung Association. He also served as Orange County Coordinator for The Concord Coalition, a non-profit federal deficit reduction organization dedicated to eliminating federal deficit spending and balancing the federal budget. He is also a Lay Minister at St. James Church in Newport Beach where he ministers to the elderly and the homeless. Born in Anaheim and raised in Orange County, Phil is the third generation of his family to live in Orange County. He and his wife Susan have two sons, Elliot and Grant. David Chapel, Ed.D., Board Clerk Chapel is a former high school teacher, school administrator, and college professor. He now manages David Chapel and Associates, an educational consulting business that specializes in textbook publishing, testing, and related educational issues. He was elected to the board in 2004. Board Clerk Chapel can be reached by email. Alfredo Amezcua, J.D., Board Member Amezcua is a 1972 Santa Ana College (SAC) graduate and a member of the SAC Alumni Hall of Fame. Amezcua, a Santa Ana resident, is an attorney with a private practice in Santa Ana. He was appointed to the board in September 2003 and elected to a board in November 2004. A Santa Ana resident, he was elected to the board in 1988 and served as president in 1991-92, 1992-93, 1999-2000 and 2004-05. Lawrence "Larry" Labrado, Board Member Labrado is an educational consultant with more than 20 years of experience in enrollment management. Lisa Woolery, Board Member Woolery is a resident of Orange and is the Senior Associate for Frank Wilson & Associates. She was elected to the board in 1996. Member Woolery can be reached by email . Michele Hutchison, Student Trustee Hutchison is a Fullerton resident and attends classes at Santiago Canyon College. The second-year pre-law and government major is currently a member of the Santiago Canyon College Psi Beta, the national honor society in psychology for community and junior colleges.
