CHULA VISTA, Calif. — A pastor who worked as a high school resource officer is accused of sexually assaulting a female student on campus, according to police.

Eric M. Williams, 47, was arrested Thursday morning, NBC 7/39 reported. He was placed on administrative leave, after the allegations against him surfaced, according to the Sweetwater Union High School District. They said Williams will remain on paid leave until they are notified of the official charges against him.

Williams, who according to police is also a pastor at a Lomita church, has worked as a campus supervisor since January of 2005. Chula Vista police said they used DNA evidence to connect him to the

alleged crime

According to officials, a 16-year-old student at Eastlake High School told a school resource officer that she had been sexually assaulted by a school staff member. The girl said the man would call her out of class, take her into an empty classroom and sexually assault her. She claimed the assaults took place during school hours between August and November 2006.

Following an extensive investigation, detectives said biological evidence taken from the classroom was later analyzed and led to the arrest of Williams.

He was employed with the district for about four years, most recently as a campus assistant, police said. Williams was also a substitute teacher at the school from November 2003 to January 2005, according to a district spokesperson.

The Chula Vista Police Department is asking anyone with information about this case of past situations involving Williams to come forward or call San Diego Crime Stoppers at 888-580-TIPS.

Eastlake High School, which operates on a year round schedule, is currently out of session on break until Oct. 8.

Williams was released from jail after posting $35,000 bond.
