The man, who it is understood is in his 40s, is from the Diocese of Kilmore. He was questioned by gardai in Co Cavan before being released without charge. A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions, a garda spokesman said. It is believed the allegation came from a 15-year-old boy. In a statement, Bishop of Kilmore Leo O'Reilly said that, in accordance with Church guidelines, the priest agreed to stand aside from his ministry pending the outcome of the investigation. "His agreement to stand aside is not an admission of guilt and should not be construed as such," he added.
