It comes following yesterday's revelation that a priest in the Diocese has stepped down from his duties, following an allegation that he sexually abused a child. It is understood the allegation was made by a 15-year-old who lives in the Diocese of Kilmore - which includes parts of counties Cavan, Leitrim, Meath and Fermanagh. Gardaí have confirmed that an investigation is underway and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions. In a statement issued yesterday, Bishop Leo O' Reilly said the safety of children is at all times of paramount importance in his Diocese.
