Church Names Chief Executive of Child Protection Body Irish Examiner May 31, 2007 http://www.irishexaminer.com/breaking/story.asp?j=221050012&p=zzyx5x7y8&n=221050772 The Catholic Church's National Board for Child Protection has appointed the director of the North's National Society for the Protection of Children as its first chief executive. Ian Elliott has already led a major reform programme for the child protection service in the North. The chair of the Church's Catholic Board for Child Protection, former Supreme Court Justice Anthony Hederman, says he has the energy, commitment, professional expertise and experience needed. Mr Elliot himself, meanwhile, says he wants the Church to move beyond apology and ensure that nobody's reputation is put above the rights of the child. |
