	Father Chaanine Says He Is Innocent KTNV [Las Vegas NV] May 22, 2007 http://www.ktnv.com/Global/story.asp?S=6543125 Father George Chaanine spoke to Action News in a jailhouse interview. The priest is accused of attacking a woman at Our Lady of Las Vegas back in February. Chaanine tells Action News he is innocent and that the woman took advantage of him. He says they were old friends and she asked for money several times. She told police that Chaanine hit her over the head with a wine bottle and fondled her inside the church before he went on the run. Police arrested him in Phoenix a few days later. Supporters of Chaanine have set up a website soliciting donations for his legal defense. Bob Massi the victim's attorney says the facts speak for themselves and says Chaanine ran like a coward.
